KANNAN K’ANNAN S’REE JR.
Kannan K’annan S’ree Jr. is a committed criminal defense lawyer who takes pride in helping clients secure the resolutions they deserve. Having completed his bachelor’s in Political Science and Global Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University, Kannan’s passion drew him to complete his Law Degree from the City, University of London, which is home to the prestigious Inns of Court School of Law.
Kannan’s services as a criminal defense lawyer help clients seek acquittals and other resolutions from “simple assault” to first degree murder charges.
Why Law?
As a child, Kannan remembers watching movies where criminal defense lawyers cross-examining the complainants and witnesses were bringing carnage to their testimonial evidence. This type of questioning thrilled and enlightened Kannan. Kannan thought becoming a lawyer was the most exciting work someone can do in life. Lawyering became a seed in Kannan’s thinking about growing up.
Later, as a teenager, Kannan witnessed some of his schoolmates from his high school in Scarborough, Ontario having their run-ins with the law. Kannan remembers going to courts to observe proceedings. Seeing criminal lawyers getting to work right before his eyes, Kannan came to appreciate the cross-examination and litigation techniques possessed by them. Kannan found it fascinating that criminal lawyers could bring favorable outcomes to complex criminal cases through sharp skills in legal advocacy. All these experiences added more shape to Kannan’s visions about the law and solidified his dreams about becoming a lawyer.
Kannan later enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Political Science and in Global Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in anticipation of admission to law school. Studying both domestic politics and international armed conflicts, Kannan came to observe the intricate interplay between law and politics and the complementary effect of law on politics and society. After all, most of the domestic and global leaders are also lawyers. It seemed lawyers don’t do wonders in courtrooms only, but they also actively run the world. If anything other than litigating, lawyers are excellent at becoming shot callers. For the young man, becoming a lawyer became a necessity if he wanted to be part of the shot-calling squadron one day.
From fantasy, to dreams, to necessity, all the reasons mentioned above made criminal law a vibrant part of Kannan’s DNA.
In his free time, Kannan enjoys playing pool and chess.
